Oils & Pastels

I was born in Greeley Colo. in 1959. I have grown up and lived in Colorado most of my life.  I was trained as a registered nurse, but left the field to raise my three children. I currently live in south of Denver Colorado with my two dogs, and two cats.

As a child I was always creating different “crafts”. My parents and grandparents were very supportive of my endeavors and always made me feel like I had just created a masterpiece  I’m sure they didn’t even know what it was most of the time, but they gave me a lot of confidence. My Fathers side of the family were wonderful watercolorists, and it was my Father that first introduced me to painting.

I started painting 8 years ago.  I picked it up as a “hobby”. In 2006, Arts at Georgetown accepted my work, that was the pivotal point in my painting career. I no longer treat it as a hobby, but instead, as a career.

I have taken many classes from the Student’s Art League of Denver. I studied with Robert Spooner for six years.  I am currently pursuing a fine art degree from Metro State in Denver. I try to paint every day, it seems to be a wonderful obsession!

I love color and tend to paint primarily still lifes. I paint with pastels and oils in a rather whimsical style, my pieces turn out a bit playful.  Like most artists I am always searching for new and different ways to express myself.  I guess you could say that I am “trying to find my own voice”. I’m sure that I will always be “trying to find my own voice” until my life is over. That is part of the allure that art has for me, it is forever changing and growing.  Every painting is a new opportunity for growth.  I like to try to express the same subject in different ways, and styles, always experimenting.
